New SCORE Cincinnati Mentors

January 6, 2022

Thousands of local, small business owners have been assisted by SCORE Greater Cincinnati mentors during the past 50 years. Three local business professionals have joined the organization to help fulfill the increasing need for free business mentoring.

Thomas Deutsch of Montgomery managed his family business, Commercial Printing, for 46 years. His expertise in business operations, workflow, employee engagement, and other areas will be an asset to people starting a business.

Bruce Lux of Mason recently retired from Procter & Gamble. He has 32 years of experience, most recently in digital marketing, eCommerce, and product marketing. He will help new businesses get started and grow online.

Kristen Smith of Cheviot is a cybersecurity and information technology professional who is working on a master’s degree. Her experience includes both private and public sector work in risk management, strategic program management, and threat analysis.

Requests for a free business mentor through the local SCORE chapter have increased by 25 percent year over year. The mentors spend four to 20 hours per month helping entrepreneurs create business plans, grow existing businesses, and find creative ways to solve today’s problems. A volunteer application is available on the SCORE website.

Free business mentoring is available to startups as well as existing businesses that need assistance. Business owners can request a mentor through the local SCORE website and are usually matched within 24 hours to one of approximately 100 volunteers who make up the local chapter.

SCORE Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana Chapter is a nonprofit organization with approximately 100 experienced volunteers who offer free mentoring in all aspects of business development and operations. The chapter offers low-cost educational seminars and maintains an extensive library of business briefs and online webinars. SCORE is the oldest and largest free business mentoring organization in the US with over 12,000 volunteers nationwide who are motivated to give back to their local communities through their support of small business.
