SCORE Announces Cincinnati Finalists for Small Business Awards

Cincinnati, Ohio—April 14, 2021 – SCORE Greater Cincinnati, an organization supporting entrepreneurs with free business mentoring and other resources, will recognize 11 locally-owned businesses during an online event April 23 at noon. 

The SCORE 2020 Client of the Year Event: Celebrating Success in the Time of COVID is free and will be broadcast live on the organization’s Facebook page. During the event, a Client of the Year winner will be named and receive a $3,000 award from Kemba Credit Union. Two finalists will each receive $2,000 from SCORE, thanks to the generosity of Kemba Credit Union and The Knox Foundation.

“The year 2020 created the most difficult business climate imaginable,” said SCORE Greater Cincinnati Chairman Greg Bedel. “Every small business owner and entrepreneur deserves an outstanding success award for the past year. During this event, we’ll recognize three finalists who were extraordinary in their perseverance and accomplishments.”

The three Client of the Year finalists contending for Kemba prize money are Amy Connor, owner of CMO-OnLoan, Elizabeth Field, owner of The Cheesecakery in Madisonville and Nick Pesola, owner of Revolution Rotisserie in Pleasant Ridge.

“Kemba recognizes the challenges that all small businesses faced in 2020 and is proud to continue its involvement with the SCORE Mentoring Program” said Dan Sutton, President and CEO of Kemba. “After what everyone has gone through this past year, the commitment that SCORE made to their clients is a testimony to the importance of the program in the Greater Cincinnati business community.”

Eight other small business owners will be recognized during the event. They are: 

·       Lashaunda Vaughn, Pretty Moments Boutique (Reading)

·       Rebecca Ward, Body Bakery & Co. (Florence)

·       Jonathan Casey and Jessica Whitaker, Wuf Pet Spa (Over-The-Rhine)

·       Linda Cole, Anthony Cole Training (Montgomery)

·       Stephanie Zink, Little Rock Farm (Melbourne, Ky.)

·       Anu Vissa, Bayzi Corporation (Woodlawn)

·       Sanjay Shewakramani, Revive Strength and Wellness (Oakley)

·       Adrienne Onley, A Touch of Heaven Floral Shoppe (Mt. Healthy)

To be considered for SCORE Client of the Year, business owners must have been in business at least one year, embraced the SCORE process, and be an enthusiastic partner with his or her mentor.

SCORE Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana Chapter is a nonprofit organization with approximately 100 experienced volunteers who offer free mentoring in all aspects of business development and operations. The chapter offers low-cost educational seminars and maintains an extensive library of business briefs and online webinars. SCORE is the oldest and largest free business mentoring organization in the US with over 12,000 volunteers nationwide who are motivated to give back to their local communities through their support of small business.
