Cincinnati, Ohio—Nov. 5, 2020—A brand new, unique bakery in Cincinnati is now shipping cookies to anywhere in the United States. Husband and wife Christina and Miles Davis Jr. opened Davis Cookie Collection, Oct. 10 at 4926 Reading Road in Bond Hill.
The shop is more than a place to buy cookies. The Davises offer an experience, where patrons can create their own cookies from an assortment of mix-ins. Dozens of cookie varieties and other desserts are also on the menu.
The origins of the business go all the way back to 2014, when Christina Davis began baking while attending graduate school. Over the years she and Miles pursued other careers—she a social worker and he a Cincinnati firefighter and paramedic—and had two children. Meanwhile, they continued taking steps toward building their cookie business. She worked with SCORE Greater Cincinnati to develop a business plan and financial forecast with the help of a one-on-one mentor.
“Christina really is a success story because she’s built a solid foundation,” said SCORE Mentor Barbara Fried. “While juggling other responsibilities she also honed her skills, learned health department requirements and other aspects of running a food business. I’ve been impressed by her persistence despite the setbacks presented this year.”
The Davises have already served a prestigious client roster, including Cincinnati Zoo and restaurants including Conscious Kitchen, Island Frydays and Sweets and Meats BBQ. The shop is open to the public Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Catering and other information is available on their website.
The business created five new jobs and fills a need for unique goods and services in the City. In addition to SCORE, the Davises were also supported on their journey by MORTAR, Bond Hill Community Council, The Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority and the Community Economic Advancement Initiative.
SCORE Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana Chapter is a nonprofit organization with approximately 100 experienced volunteers who offer free mentoring in all aspects of business development and operations.
